How to fix VLC player issues
VLC is one of the most preferred video players in the world
who use Windows. Its ease of use, varied features, and support for a lot of
file formats have made it very popular. Like most applications, VLC can
sometimes be annoying. Not playing the video properly and stopping repeatedly
can cause trouble. Fortunately, this can be easily corrected.
Check the file format:
The VLC Media Player supports almost all kinds of video
formats. If not, some may not be able to be played. If the video we see is on
this list, it may stop again and again. So we have to see if the VLC supports
it or not. If not supported, the video needs to converted.
Disabling hardware acceleration:
The hardware acceleration features on the VLC uses the GPU
in the device. This will speed up the decoding process. Makes the video play
without stopping in middle. If there are errors in this feature, the video will
stop and move. However, sometimes disabling it may workout. For this, the VLD
media player has been opened. Click on tools. Select input/codes by preferences
from the menu. Disable and save the “Hardware-Accelerated Decoding” option in
the drop-down menu. Then refresh the VLC.
Changing the power plan:
Enabling a hard power profile on a Windows computer can cause
apps to run slowly. This may also cause difficulty for the VLC media player to
work. This can be avoided by changing the computer power plan to high
performance. First, press the Windows and R buttons together and open the
dialog box. If you type Control, the control panel will appear. Open it and
click on Power options to see the power plan. You have to select and save the
high-performance.
Changing the Caching Value
VLC absorbs and retains part of the content while playing a
video from the web. This makes the video play faster. If the video stumbling,
you can try to increase the size of the network and file cache. First, open the
VLC media player on the PC and go to the preferences through the tools. Select
the input/codex through the show settings under the all-option. This includes
increasing the value in the file catching (MS) section that appears under the
advanced option. You also need to increase the value of network caching (MS) and
save it.
Reset VLC Preferences
There are plenty of settings and preferences available to
improve the performance of VLC. However, some preferences are not properly
configured. This may change the behavior of Windows. It’s been to reset
everything and get it back to work from the beginning rather than changing one’s
preference. For this, go to preferences through the tools section and click on “Reset
Preferences”. Whether you want to reset these will appear in the dialog box.
Then click on OK. Then restart the VLC application.
