Innovative smart watch for the blind people
Innovative smart watch for the blind
IIT Kanpur has developed a new smart watch for the visually impaired. It is expected to be more useful than watches with traditional technologies.
Currently there are four types of watches available for the blind. There is a risk that the thorn will break when the tactile clocks are touched with the finger or when they are scratched at something.
Clocks that convey time in the form of words can compromise privacy. If vibrational clocks are complex. Braille watches are expensive.
IIT Kanpur has come up with an innovative watch with touch and vibrational technologies with the intention of removing such difficulties. It has 12 touch markers to indicate the hours around its dial. If you touch on these, you will know the time.
For example, let’s say the time is 4:30. Then markers 4 and 6 are active. They create vibrations when touched with a finger. When the 4th thorn is touched, a long vibration is produced. This is an indicator or hours. A slight vibration is produced at the 6th pin. This is a sign for minutes.
The smartwatch
also comes with features that show heart rate and number of steps, as well as a
reminder of thirst. You can also set a short timer. These features can only be
used with simple methods such as tapping twice or thrice.
